CIA returns this October with a new case, a major discovery for Bill Goodman and some help from a familiar face from the FBI.
CBS has released photos from CIA Season 2 Episode 1, “The Deep,” which premieres Monday, October 5 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Tom Ellis returns as CIA Agent Colin Glass alongside Nick Gehlfuss as FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman, with FBI’s John Boyd guest starring as Special Agent Stuart Scola.
The Season 2 premiere begins when a known cartel fixer arrives in New York City. As the team tracks him down, the investigation takes a deadly turn with the discovery of a DEA agent’s body.
What initially appears to be a straightforward case quickly becomes something more complicated. When the team realizes the situation isn’t what it seems, Colin, Bill and the rest of the task force must move quickly to prevent additional murders.
Stuart Scola Joins The CIA Season 2 Premiere
The premiere also brings together CIA and FBI as John Boyd crosses over as FBI Special Agent Stuart Scola.
Scola is enlisted to help the team during the investigation, giving the CBS dramas an immediate connection as they begin their new seasons on the same night.
CBS has released several photos featuring Boyd alongside Nick Gehlfuss, offering a first look at Scola working with Bill during the case.
The crossover goes both ways on premiere night. Necar Zadegan’s CIA Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard is set to appear in the FBI Season 9 premiere, which airs immediately before CIA.
Bill Returns To Work After His Father’s Death
“The Deep” will also deal with the personal fallout facing Bill when he returns to work following the death of his father.
CBS teases that Bill makes a shocking discovery after returning, although the network is keeping the details under wraps ahead of the premiere.
Season 2 continues the partnership between Colin and Bill as they operate within the joint CIA/FBI task force in New York. The regular cast also includes Necar Zadegan as Nikki Reynard and Natalee Linez as CIA analyst Gina Gosian.
“The Deep” is written by Mike Weiss and directed by Ken Girotti.
CIA Season 2 Episode 1, “The Deep,” airs Monday, October 5 from 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on CBS. The episode will also stream live and on demand for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, with Paramount+ Essential subscribers able to watch on demand the following day.
