Boston Blue returns this October with a new case that hits close to home for Danny Reagan and Lena Silver.
CBS has released the first photos from Boston Blue Season 2 Episode 1, “The Crash,” which premieres Friday, October 9 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Donnie Wahlberg returns as Danny Reagan alongside Sonequa Martin-Green as Detective Lena Silver for a season premiere built around a killer recreating one of Boston’s most notorious crimes.
“The Crash” finds Danny and Lena investigating a series of murders that begin mirroring the infamous Boston Strangler killings. With fear spreading across the city and the possibility of another victim looming, the detectives race to identify and stop the copycat killer.
The investigation also brings more members of the Reagan and Silver families into the action.
Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner) and Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen), now coming off their rookie year, join the effort to track down the killer. Henry Reagan (Len Cariou) also gets involved as the case escalates.
Danny Reagan Faces A Major Career Decision
The murder investigation isn’t the only significant development awaiting Danny in the Season 2 premiere.
CBS says Danny will face a career-defining promotion in “The Crash,” continuing his evolution after leaving New York and establishing a new life within the Boston Police Department.
Meanwhile, Lena uncovers a lead that could connect the attack on Detective Rodgers to a powerful figure, suggesting another investigation from the first season will continue to develop as Season 2 begins.
The new season continues Danny and Lena’s partnership while expanding the Reagan-Silver family dynamic that became central to Boston Blue during its first season.
The regular cast also includes Maggie Lawson as Police Superintendent Sarah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Boston District Attorney Mae Silver and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Edwin Peters.
“The Crash” features a story by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier and is directed by Sherwin Shilati.
Boston Blue Season 2 Episode 1, “The Crash,” airs Friday, October 9 from 10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT on CBS. The episode will also stream live and on demand for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, with Paramount+ Essential subscribers able to watch on demand the following day.
