Best Medicine Season 2 Episode 1 Photos: “Be Careful What You Fish For”

Best Medicine is back in Port Wenn — and FOX is giving viewers an early look at Season 2 following football today, Sunday, September 20. The comedy-drama will then move into its regular Tuesday time period beginning September 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Season 2 Episode 1, “Be Careful What You Fish For,” finds Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles) still struggling with his blood phobia when a mermaid washes ashore, leaving the entire town amazed. As if that were not enough to manage, Judith (guest star Andrea Martin) creates trouble while using prescribed oxygen, Louisa (Abigail Spencer) continues looking to Martin’s girlfriend Eden (Eliza Coupe) for medical guidance, and Greg and George discover that their sea urchin boom has consequences of its own.

The early premiere gives Best Medicine a little extra room to welcome viewers back before its regular FOX run begins. The first-hour photos tease the wonderfully offbeat Port Wenn case at the center of the episode, along with the town’s familiar mix of medical chaos, relationship complications and very particular local personalities.

“Be Careful What You Fish For” also introduces Andrea Martin’s Judith, a well-meaning townsperson whose presence is certain to test Martin’s patience. With Martin still trying to work through the phobia that has complicated both his professional and personal life, Season 2 is picking up the pieces without losing the show’s unusual sense of humor.
