Weekend Box Office: MOANA Debuts At No. 1 As TOY STORY 5 Surpasses $400 Million

Disney’s MOANA made an impressive splash at the weekend box office, debuting with $43 million from 3,875 locations to claim the top spot. The strong opening gives Disney another family blockbuster heading into the heart of the summer season and proves audiences are still eager to return to the beloved world of Moana. With positive word-of-mouth and little direct family competition in the coming weeks, the film appears well-positioned for a lengthy run.

MINIONS & MONSTERS Crosses $100 Million

Universal’s MINIONS & MONSTERS continued its strong theatrical run, earning $20.5 million in its latest weekend despite a respectable 45% decline. The animated adventure has now surpassed $108.2 million domestically, cementing itself as another successful entry for the studio. While its opening frenzy has slowed, family audiences continue to show up, helping the film remain firmly in the Top 5.

TOY STORY 5 Continues Its Blockbuster Run

Disney’s TOY STORY 5 added another $18.5 million to its incredible domestic haul, bringing its total to more than $403.7 million. Falling just 39%, the Pixar sequel continues to display remarkable staying power thanks to strong reviews, repeat family viewings, and nostalgic appeal. With international numbers also climbing, TOY STORY 5 remains one of the year’s biggest theatrical successes.

EVIL DEAD BURN Delivers A Solid Horror Debut

Warner Bros.’ EVIL DEAD BURN scared up $13.7 million in its opening weekend, finishing fourth overall. While not the franchise’s biggest debut, the latest installment proved there’s still plenty of appetite for the iconic horror series. If genre fans continue to support the film and word-of-mouth remains positive, EVIL DEAD BURN could enjoy a healthy run throughout the remainder of the summer.

YOUNG WASHINGTON Rounds Out The Top Five

Angel Studios’ YOUNG WASHINGTON completed the weekend’s Top 5 with $6.45 million, bringing its domestic total to $33.1 million. Although the historical drama experienced the largest decline among the Top 5 at 67%, it continues to attract audiences interested in inspirational and faith-adjacent historical storytelling. The film has already built a respectable theatrical total and should continue adding to its box office over the coming weeks.
