Something strange is growing in Hawkins again.
Netflix has released the official trailer for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2, revealing the next supernatural mystery facing the Hawkins Investigators Club when the animated series returns September 17, 2026.
Season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first-season finale, but defeating the Horde Queen hasn’t bought Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max and Nikki much peace. Mysterious flowers are spreading across Hawkins, ghostly apparitions are appearing around town and a new swarm of creatures known as “hate sprites” threatens to help tear open another gate to the Upside Down.

The kids may have saved Hawkins from the Horde Queen, but Dustin makes their continuing responsibility clear: they’re the town’s first line of defense against paranormal threats.

What Is Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2 About?
Season 2 begins with the Hawkins crew attempting to return to something resembling normal life.
That means trips to the Palace Arcade, more Hawkins Investigators Club missions and preparations for Valentine’s Day.
Unfortunately, normal doesn’t last particularly long in Hawkins.
Strange iridescent flowers begin appearing throughout town. They may look harmless, but something supernatural is hiding inside the colorful petals.
The problem becomes considerably worse when Nikki and Max hatch a plan to sell the flowers around Hawkins, inadvertently helping spread the mysterious phenomenon throughout town.
A New Supernatural Threat Is Coming to Hawkins
The flowers aren’t the only problem facing the HIC in Season 2.
Netflix says mysterious ghostly apparitions and a swarm of creatures called hate sprites will begin wreaking havoc around Hawkins as the kids investigate what’s behind the latest paranormal activity.
The stakes could once again extend all the way to the Upside Down, with the HIC racing to uncover the truth before another gate can be ripped open.
The new mystery will take the group back to familiar locations including Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade, while also sending them somewhere the Stranger Things universe hasn’t explored before.
Season 2 Will Explore a Mysterious Hawkins Mine
Showrunner Eric Robles says the new season will expand the animated series into previously unseen corners of Hawkins.
One of those locations is a mine beneath Hawkins that hasn’t previously been explored.
Exactly how the mine connects to the mysterious flowers, ghostly activity or potential new opening to the Upside Down remains to be seen, but it gives Season 2 another opportunity to fill in pieces of Hawkins history outside the stories told in the live-action series.

The core Hawkins crew returns for Season 2, including Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Luca Diaz as Mike, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will and Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter.
Additional returning voice cast members include Brett Gipson as Hopper, Janeane Garofalo as Anna Baxter, Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Alessandra Antonelli as Nancy Wheeler, Valeria Rodriguez as Rosario and Jack Griffo as Jeff.
