NEON has released the first trailer for Fjord, the new drama from two-time Palme d’Or-winning filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve.
The film follows Mihai (Stan) and Lisbet (Reinsve), a devout Romanian-Norwegian couple who relocate with their five children to a remote coastal community in Norway. Their children quickly form a bond with a neighboring family, but tensions begin building around the couple’s conservative religious beliefs and approach to raising their family.
When their teenage daughter arrives at school with unexplained bruises, allegations of abuse draw the attention of the community and Norway’s child-protection system. What follows forces the family to confront questions surrounding parental authority, cultural differences and the difficult line between legitimate concern and prejudice.
