Lioness Season 3 continues Sunday, August 30 with Episode 5, “The Idiot Army,” as Joe McNamara and the CIA deal with the fallout from the dangerous events of “Murder Hornets.”
Paramount+ has released the first photos and promo for the upcoming episode, offering an early look at Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Ian Bohen, LaMonica Garrett and Thad Luckinbill as the pressure surrounding Joe and the Lioness team continues to build.
Episode 5 follows directly after Lioness Season 3 Episode 4, “Murder Hornets,” which left Joe’s fate hanging in the balance while revealing more about Operation Treasure and the Russian intelligence operation targeting her.
Lioness Season 3 Episode 5 “The Idiot Army” Preview
The newly released material suggests “The Idiot Army” will bring both sides of Lioness back into focus: the operatives working in the field and the officials dealing with the political and intelligence consequences above them.
One of the most notable Episode 5 photos brings Joe together with Kaitlyn Meade, Byron Westfield and Secretary of State Edwin Mullins, played by Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly and Morgan Freeman.
Seeing all four characters together suggests the crisis has reached a level requiring some of the most powerful people in the Lioness world to be directly involved.
Another photo shifts attention back to the tactical side of the story, showing Grady, Alex and Tucker together. Ian Bohen returns as Grady alongside Sandi Todorovic as Alex and LaMonica Garrett as Tucker.
Kyle McManus, played by Thad Luckinbill, also appears in the new Episode 5 photography after playing a major role in the desperate effort to locate Joe in “Murder Hornets.”
What Happens After “Murder Hornets”?
Episode 4 dramatically raised the stakes for Joe and everyone attempting to bring her home.
After spending much of “Murder Hornets” in captivity, Joe was moved again as the CIA raced to determine where her captors intended to take her. The episode also revealed more about Operation Treasure, helping explain why Russian intelligence was willing to take such an extraordinary risk by targeting a senior CIA officer.
That makes “The Idiot Army” less of a reset than a continuation of an increasingly dangerous international confrontation.

The Episode 5 photos also confirm appearances by Ian Bohen as Grady, LaMonica Garrett as Tucker, Thad Luckinbill as Kyle McManus and Sandi Todorovic as Alex.
