One of DC Studios’ most anticipated new series just got a major spotlight at San Diego Comic-Con.
During the show’s Hall H panel, HBO Max unveiled the official trailer for Lanterns, giving fans their best look yet at the upcoming drama starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as legendary Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
The eight-episode first season premieres Sunday, August 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

A Murder Mystery With Cosmic Consequences
Rather than telling a traditional superhero origin story, Lanterns takes a grounded approach to the Green Lantern mythology.
The series follows veteran Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they’re assigned to investigate a mysterious murder in the American heartland. What begins as a seemingly isolated case soon uncovers a much larger conspiracy with far-reaching cosmic implications.
Blending crime drama, mystery, and science fiction, Lanterns promises a fresh take on one of DC’s most iconic franchises.
