The Criterion Collection has revealed its December 2026 releases, with a new slate headlined by The English Patient, Robert Altman’s Nashville, Werner Herzog’s Grizzly Man and Ernst Lubitsch’s romantic comedy The Shop Around the Corner.
The December lineup also brings Pietro Germi’s Divorce Italian Style to 4K UHD and celebrates pioneering Afro-Cuban filmmaker Sara Gómez with Eclipse Series 50: Sara Gómez’s Revolutionary Cuba.
Criterion’s December 2026 releases arrive across three Tuesdays — December 1, December 8 and December 15 — with several films receiving new 4K presentations alongside extensive archival and newly produced special features.

Nashville — Robert Altman’s sprawling 1975 portrait of American politics, entertainment and country music arrives in a 4K UHD and Blu-ray special edition. The release features a 4K digital restoration with Dolby Vision HDR, Altman’s audio commentary, a making-of documentary, archival interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and more.
Divorce Italian Style — Pietro Germi’s 1961 black comedy starring Marcello Mastroianni receives a new 4K digital restoration. The 4K UHD and Blu-ray edition includes a documentary on Germi, interviews, screen tests and an essay by film critic Stuart Klawans.

The English Patient — Anthony Minghella’s nine-time Academy Award winner, starring Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe and Kristin Scott Thomas, joins the collection with a new 4K digital restoration supervised and approved by cinematographer John Seale. The 4K UHD presentation includes Dolby Vision HDR, while the accompanying Blu-ray collects documentaries, interviews, deleted scenes and two audio commentaries.
Grizzly Man — Werner Herzog’s acclaimed 2005 documentary about Timothy Treadwell comes to Criterion Blu-ray with a high-definition master of the original theatrical version. Supplements include a new conversation between Herzog and producer Erik Nelson, documentaries examining the film and its music, and an essay by journalist Nick Paumgarten.

The Shop Around the Corner — Ernst Lubitsch’s beloved 1940 romantic comedy starring James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan receives a new 4K digital restoration presented in Dolby Vision HDR. The release includes a new audio commentary, a new appreciation by Noah Wyle, two radio adaptations and more.
Eclipse Series 50: Sara Gómez’s Revolutionary Cuba — Criterion celebrates the groundbreaking Afro-Cuban filmmaker with a two-disc Blu-ray collection bringing together Gómez’s feature One Way or Another and a selection of her documentary work exploring postrevolutionary Cuba. The set also includes an essay by scholar Odette Casamayor-Cisneros.
