Twenty-five years after Band of Brothers first premiered on HBO, members of the acclaimed limited series’ cast are looking back at the experience in a new HBO documentary, Band of Brothers: Legacy.
Band of Brothers: Legacy premieres September 9 on HBO and HBO Max, exactly 25 years after the original series debuted. The documentary features new interviews with Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Michael Cudlitz, Capt. Dale Dye, USMC (Ret.), David Schwimmer and more as they revisit the making of Band of Brothers and its lasting impact.
Band of Brothers Cast Looks Back 25 Years Later
The new documentary combines personal reflections and behind-the-scenes stories from the Band of Brothers cast with never-before-seen archival footage and photographs of Easy Company and World War II.
The original HBO limited series helped introduce a wider audience to the story of Easy Company, part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, while following its soldiers from training through the end of World War II in Europe.
In Band of Brothers: Legacy, the actors who portrayed those soldiers reflect on the production and the responsibility of bringing their stories to television. The documentary also explores the cultural legacy the series has built during the quarter-century since its debut.
Who Appears in Band of Brothers: Legacy?
Among the returning Band of Brothers cast members featured in new interviews are Damian Lewis, who starred as Richard Winters; Ron Livingston, who played Lewis Nixon; Michael Cudlitz, who portrayed Denver “Bull” Randleman; David Schwimmer, who played Herbert Sobel; and military adviser and actor Dale Dye.
Band of Brothers: Legacy comes from Playtone and is directed by former Green Beret Chase Millsap. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman serve as executive producers, with Kirk Saduski, Richard Arlook and Sean Mullin producing. Spencer Millsap serves as director of photography and editor.
HBO Max Adds More Band of Brothers Anniversary Content
The documentary isn’t the only new material arriving for the anniversary. Beginning September 9, HBO Max subscribers can watch exclusive video diaries from Ron Livingston and Richard Speight on the Band of Brothers series page.
HBO Max is also launching an “In the Company of Heroes” collection featuring documentaries and other titles inspired by true stories.
When Does Band of Brothers: Legacy Premiere?
Band of Brothers: Legacy premieres Wednesday, September 9 on HBO and HBO Max. The original 10-part Band of Brothers limited series is available to stream now on HBO Max.
