The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is heading toward its final chapter, and AMC+ has released the first teaser for Season 4 while revealing a major new addition to the cast: Jimmy Smits.
The fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere in 2027, with Norman Reedus returning as Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier. The new season continues their journey across Spain as the longtime survivors confront an increasingly uncertain future.
Smits joins the series as Captain Alejandro Perkins, a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor who has managed to find his own way to thrive during the zombie apocalypse. The new teaser offers the first look at Smits in the role alongside Reedus and McBride.
AMC describes the final season as finding Daryl and Carol crossing the ravaged badlands of Spain, holding onto hope — and each other — as questions about their future continue to grow.
Jimmy Smits Joins The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4
Jimmy Smits brings an extensive television résumé to The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, including acclaimed roles on NYPD Blue and The West Wing. His new character, Captain Alejandro Perkins, combines a military background with medical training, although AMC is keeping the details of exactly how Perkins fits into Daryl and Carol’s story under wraps.
Smits joins returning cast members Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Final Season Arrives in 2027
Season 4 will bring The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon to an end after four seasons. The eight-episode final season was filmed in Spain, continuing the international journey that has defined the spinoff since Daryl first found himself stranded in Europe.
David Zabel returns as showrunner and executive produces alongside Scott M. Gimple, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival and Steve Squillante.
AMC and AMC+ have not yet announced an exact 2027 premiere date for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4.
