Here’s what is making noise on Netflix for the week of August 31–September 6, 2026.
1. The Whisper Man
33.4 million views | #1 English Movie
Nothing else came close to The Whisper Man this week.
The crime thriller soared to No. 1 on Netflix’s English-language movie chart with an enormous 33.4 million views, easily making it one of the week’s biggest stories on the service.
Adam Scott stars as Tom Kennedy, a widowed father whose son disappears as a frightening connection emerges to a serial killer known as the Whisper Man. Michelle Monaghan, Robert De Niro and Hamish Linklater also star in the adaptation of Alex North’s bestselling novel.
The movie mixes a missing-child mystery with psychological horror and a story about fathers and sons, building toward an ending that answers the mystery surrounding the Whisper Man.

2. Death of the Pastor’s Wife
13.9 million views | #1 English TV
True crime continues to be one of Netflix’s most reliable audience magnets.
Death of the Pastor’s Wife held onto the No. 1 position on the English-language TV chart with 13.9 million views.
The documentary series examines the life and death of South Carolina worship leader Mica Miller, including her marriage to pastor John-Paul Miller and allegations of abuse before her death.
Its continued performance gives Netflix another major true-crime success and makes it the streamer’s most-watched English-language television title of the week.
3. The Gentlemen Season 2
6.7 million views | #3 English TV
Eddie Horniman is back in business.
The Gentlemen Season 2 debuted at No. 3 on Netflix’s English-language television chart with 6.7 million views, while renewed interest in the series also pushed Season 1 back into the Top 10 at No. 5 with another 3.2 million views.
The second season reunites Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as Eddie and Susie, expanding their criminal enterprise beyond England as the action moves into the lakeside villas of Italy.
It’s bigger and more international than Season 1 without abandoning the swagger, dark humor and increasingly complicated partnership that made the series work in the first place.

4. Outer Banks Season 5
3.3 million views | #4 English TV
The Pogues aren’t finished drawing an audience just yet.
Outer Banks Season 5 remained in Netflix’s Top 10 with another 3.3 million views, landing at No. 4 among English-language television series.
The fifth and final season brings the Pogues’ original story to an end as John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo deal with a devastating loss while pursuing one last adventure.
Its staying power is especially notable after Season 5 originally debuted at No. 1, giving one of Netflix’s defining young-adult franchises a strong final run.

5. Turning Point: Generation 9/11
5.2 million views | #2 English Movie
Turning Point: Generation 9/11 debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s English-language movie chart with 5.2 million views.
Arriving 25 years after the September 11 attacks, the documentary examines how that day shaped the generation that grew up in its aftermath.
Its strong debut comes during a week when audiences are revisiting the events and legacy of September 11 ahead of the 25th anniversary.
6. The Secret Woman
19.3 million views | #1 Non-English Movie
One of the week’s largest audiences belongs to Danish thriller The Secret Woman.
The movie climbed to No. 1 on Netflix’s non-English film chart with 19.3 million views.
Based on Anna Ekberg’s novel, the thriller follows an amnesiac woman who begins uncovering her former life as the heiress to a shipping empire — along with the dangerous reasons she apparently chose to leave that life behind.
With nearly 20 million views, The Secret Woman is another reminder that some of Netflix’s biggest global hits don’t necessarily begin in Hollywood.
7. Mousetrap
4.4 million views | #1 Non-English TV
Korean crime thriller Mousetrap reached No. 1 on Netflix’s non-English television chart with 4.4 million views.
The series stars Ryu Jun-yeol as a reclusive novelist who joins forces with a ruthless loan shark to hunt down an identity thief known as “The Rat.”
Crime thrillers regularly travel well on Netflix, and another Korean series reaching the top of the global non-English ranking makes Mousetrap one worth watching.
8. The Hard Corps
5 million views | #3 English Movie
The Hard Corps landed at No. 3 on Netflix’s English-language movie chart with 5 million views.
Its appearance alongside much newer Netflix releases is another example of the service’s ability to give existing movies an unexpected second life when they land in front of a massive streaming audience.
Five million views was enough to put it just behind The Whisper Man and Turning Point: Generation 9/11 on this week’s English movie ranking.
9. Leanne Season 2
2.1 million views | #9 English TV
Leanne returned to Netflix with its second season and immediately landed back in the global Top 10.
The comedy starring Leanne Morgan debuted at No. 9 among English-language television series with 2.1 million views.
The new season continues Leanne’s attempt to rebuild her life and figure out what comes next, maintaining the warm, character-driven comedy that helped the first season find an audience.
10. The Last House
3.3 million views | #10 English Movie
The Last House refuses to leave Netflix’s Top 10.
The science-fiction thriller starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura collected another 3.3 million views this week, keeping it on the English-language movie chart for a fifth week.
That longevity is becoming more interesting than its individual weekly ranking. Plenty of Netflix movies generate a large opening and disappear quickly; The Last House continues finding new viewers more than a month into its run.
The contained thriller follows parents Ann and Jason as they try to protect their family from a mysterious threat while sheltering inside a remote house, gradually turning uncertainty and isolation into something increasingly dangerous.

If you’re looking for the movie everyone else is watching, there’s really no contest this week. The Whisper Man pulled in 33.4 million views and offers a dark crime mystery with a cast led by Adam Scott, Michelle Monaghan and Robert De Niro.
