HBO Max celebrated the 25th anniversary of Band of Brothers with a special Los Angeles event that reunited members of the acclaimed miniseries’ cast and honored the military service members whose stories inspired the landmark HBO production.
Held Tuesday, September 8 at the Billy Wilder Theater, the anniversary celebration included an advance screening of the new Playtone documentary Band of Brothers: Legacy, which premiered September 9 on HBO and HBO Max.
Among the original Band of Brothers cast attending were Neal McDonough, who portrayed 1st Lt. Lynn “Buck” Compton; Matthew Settle, Capt. Ronald Speirs; Matthew Leitch, Floyd M. Talbert; Richard Speight Jr., Warren H. Muck; Peter Youngblood Hills, Darrell C. Powers; Kirk Acevedo, Joe Toye; Eion Bailey, David Kenyon Webster; and Alex Sabga-Brady, Francis J. Mellett.

Band of Brothers Veterans and Military Guests Honored
The evening also recognized the real-world military service and sacrifice at the heart of Band of Brothers.
HBO Max welcomed veterans and military guests representing Fort Irwin U.S. Army Base, UCLA Navy ROTC, UCLA Air Force ROTC, UCLA Military ROTC, the National WWII Museum and USAA, along with members of the production’s military community.
That connection has remained fundamental to the legacy of Band of Brothers, which dramatized the experiences of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

Original Band of Brothers Costumes and Memorabilia on Display
Before the documentary screening, guests attended a reception featuring a curated exhibition of authentic Band of Brothers memorabilia.
The collection included archival costumes worn by Damian Lewis as Maj. Richard “Dick” Winters, Michael Cudlitz as Sgt. Denver “Bull” Randleman, Neal McDonough as 1st Lt. Lynn “Buck” Compton and Frank John Hughes as Staff Sgt. William “Wild Bill” Guarnere.

Props from the original HBO miniseries were displayed alongside rare photographs of the real Easy Company during World War II.
A live string quartet also performed selections from the original Band of Brothers score during the anniversary event.
Band of Brothers: Legacy Revisits the Landmark HBO Series
The anniversary celebration offered guests an advance look at Band of Brothers: Legacy, a new documentary from Playtone examining the enduring impact of the miniseries 25 years after its debut.
The original Band of Brothers, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, premiered on HBO in September 2001 and went on to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries.
Twenty-five years later, its portrayal of Easy Company and the soldiers who fought their way across Europe during World War II continues to introduce new audiences to their stories.
Band of Brothers: Legacy is now available on HBO and HBO Max. The complete original Band of Brothers limited series is also available to stream on HBO Max.
