Aggie Wiggs has another story ahead of her. Netflix has renewed The Beast in Me for Season 2, with Claire Danes returning as the author whose fascination with her neighbor Nile Jarvis drove the first season’s psychological mystery.
Netflix has not revealed what Aggie’s next story will be or announced a Season 2 premiere date. The renewal does confirm that the series will continue with Aggie at its center after a first season that earned 21 Emmy nominations.
What Is Confirmed for The Beast in Me Season 2?
Howard Gordon, a writer and executive producer on the first season, will serve as co-showrunner alongside Daniel Pearle. Season 2 is also the first project under a new exclusive creative partnership between Gordon and Netflix.
Gordon said the team would only return if they found a story worthy of another season. That is an encouraging approach for a thriller whose first chapter depended so heavily on the charged relationship between Aggie and Nile, played by Matthew Rhys. The new season has an opportunity to explore Aggie beyond that relationship, though Netflix is keeping its premise under wraps for now.
Danes, Gordon and Pearle are among the Season 2 executive producers, along with Antonio Campos, Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Gabe Rotter, Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross and Jodie Foster.
Will Matthew Rhys Return?
Netflix’s announcement confirms Danes as a returning cast member but does not announce Matthew Rhys or any other Season 2 cast. For now, the only confirmed character detail is Aggie’s return. The streamer has also not disclosed a filming schedule or episode count.
The first season followed Aggie, a writer drawn into a dangerous mind game with wealthy neighbor Nile Jarvis. Its success turned what was initially presented as a limited series into an ongoing story, but Season 2 will need its own mystery rather than simply repeat the dynamic that made the original so compelling.
When Will The Beast in Me Season 2 Premiere?
Netflix has not announced a release date for Season 2. All eight episodes of the first season are available to stream on Netflix while further casting and story details are still to come.
