Superman: Man of Tomorrow has officially wrapped filming, bringing James Gunn’s next chapter in the DC Universe one major step closer to theaters.
Gunn announced that principal photography on the Superman follow-up is complete, celebrating the end of the shoot with behind-the-scenes photos and a message thanking the cast and crew. Variety reports that the production completed 93 shooting days, one more than Gunn’s 2025 Superman.
“That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow,” Gunn wrote, describing the production as a joyful experience and expressing his gratitude to everyone who worked on the film.
One of Gunn’s photos showed Nicholas Hoult, who returns as Lex Luthor, in a lake after completing the movie’s final shot. Gunn explained that Hoult jumped into the water after filming wrapped.
The other featured members of the filmmaking team gathered around video village, with Gunn crediting the group with making the production fun.
Gunn later revealed that Man of Tomorrow filmed for 93 days — one day longer than his 2025 Superman movie.
Superman and Lex Luthor Face Brainiac
David Corenswet returns as Clark Kent/Superman alongside Hoult’s Lex Luthor, but the longtime enemies will find themselves in an unusual position in Man of Tomorrow.
This time, Superman and Lex are expected to form an unlikely alliance against a much larger threat: Brainiac.
Lars Eidinger will play the super-intelligent DC villain, bringing one of Superman’s most famous adversaries to the big screen.
Rachel Brosnahan also returns as Lois Lane, while Skyler Gisondo is back as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio reprises her role as Eve Teschmacher.
The movie will further expand the interconnected DC Universe with several familiar heroes.
Isabela Merced returns as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Milly Alcock will once again appear as Supergirl following her starring role in Supergirl.
Aaron Pierre is also set to bring John Stewart to the big screen after portraying the Green Lantern in HBO’s Lanterns.

Man of Tomorrow Moves Into Post-Production
Gunn has offered fans occasional looks behind the scenes throughout production.
Filming began in April, with the writer-director marking the start of production through a set photo. In June, he offered another tease with a glimpse at Lex Luthor’s iconic war suit.
With principal photography now finished, Man of Tomorrow moves into post-production with a little less than a year remaining before its theatrical debut.
The film follows Gunn’s 2025 Superman, which launched the theatrical side of the new DC Universe with Corenswet taking over the role of the Man of Steel.
Now Superman’s next big-screen adventure has cleared one of its biggest production milestones.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow opens in theaters July 9, 2027.
