Spider-Man: Brand New Day Becomes Fastest Movie Ever to Reach $800 Million Domestic

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added another massive box-office record to its already historic theatrical run.

The Tom Holland-led Marvel blockbuster has crossed $800 million at the domestic box office after just 19 days in theaters, becoming the fastest movie in history to reach the milestone.

According to Variety, the achievement comes only days after Brand New Day dominated the box office for a third consecutive weekend, earning another $70 million and bringing its domestic total to $785.8 million through Sunday. The film has now blown past the $800 million barrier less than three weeks after opening in theaters.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Reaches $800 Million in Record Time

Reaching $800 million domestically is rare enough on its own.

Doing it in 19 days puts Brand New Day in unprecedented territory.

Only four movies have ever earned more than $800 million at the domestic box office, and Brand New Day reached the mark faster than any of them. The film now finds itself competing with some of the biggest theatrical releases in movie history as it continues its extraordinary run.

It’s the latest in a string of milestones for the newest Spider-Man adventure.

Brand New Day opened to a staggering $355 million domestically, immediately establishing itself as the summer’s dominant theatrical release. You can revisit our coverage of the movie’s record-setting opening weekend.

One week later, Spider-Man remained comfortably at No. 1 with another $145 million, pushing its domestic total to $655.1 million after only two weekends. Our second-weekend box-office report tracked the film as its record-breaking run continued.

Now, less than three weeks after release, $800 million is already in the rearview mirror.

Brand New Day Is Now Chasing the Biggest Movies Ever

The question is quickly becoming not whether Brand New Day will rank among the biggest domestic movies ever, but how high it can climb.

The movie has already moved into extremely exclusive territory, with Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens among the remaining benchmarks ahead of it. Endgame finished with approximately $858.4 million domestically, while The Force Awakens remains the all-time domestic champion with approximately $936.7 million.

At its current pace, Brand New Day has a legitimate opportunity to challenge both.

Crossing $800 million this quickly also gives the film plenty of runway remaining. Brand New Day is still playing nationwide, and its first three weekends demonstrated remarkable demand despite substantial competition during the summer movie season.

Even a more conventional slowdown from here would leave it with one of the largest domestic totals ever recorded.

Spider-Man Has Already Crossed $2 Billion Worldwide

The domestic record is only part of the story.

According to VarietySpider-Man: Brand New Day has also surpassed $2 billion worldwide, becoming only the eighth movie in history to reach that milestone. The film reached $2 billion in just 17 days, making it the second-fastest movie ever to reach the mark behind only Avengers: Endgame. Its global performance has also pushed it past Spider-Man: No Way Home, making Brand New Day Sony’s highest-grossing movie worldwide.

That makes the scale of the film’s success particularly striking.

Before release, Brand New Day was already positioned as one of 2026’s biggest movies. Instead, it has become something considerably larger: a genuine all-time box-office phenomenon.

The performance also comes at a time when Hollywood has spent several years debating whether audiences are becoming less interested in superhero movies.

Peter Parker apparently didn’t get that memo.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Continues to Grow

The record-breaking performance also gives Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man movie an unusual distinction: rather than experiencing diminishing returns after No Way Home, the franchise has managed to become even bigger.

No Way Home was itself a historic theatrical success, particularly given its December 2021 release during the industry’s recovery from the pandemic. Its original domestic run finished above $800 million, while its worldwide total eventually reached approximately $1.92 billion.

Brand New Day has already surpassed that worldwide performance.

The film also took Peter Parker in a different direction following the events of No Way Home, returning the character to a more isolated life after Doctor Strange’s spell caused the world to forget Peter Parker.

How High Can Spider-Man: Brand New Day Go?

That’s now the fun part.

At $800 million domestic after only 19 days, Brand New Day doesn’t need much more to overtake Avengers: Endgame. The much larger target is The Force Awakens and its long-standing domestic record.

Whether Spider-Man can actually get there will depend on how well the film holds over the coming weeks and how much upcoming competition cuts into its screens.

But even having that conversation is remarkable.

Three weekends ago, we were talking about Brand New Day delivering an enormous opening.

Now we’re talking about whether it can become the highest-grossing movie ever at the domestic box office.

Whatever happens next, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already secured its place in box-office history.
