Paramount+ is adding another high-profile original to its growing slate of scripted dramas with Trauma (working title), a gripping new medical action thriller starring Golden Globe winner Richard Madden (Bodyguard, Game of Thrones, Eternals).
The series comes from Lionsgate Television and 42, with Prime Video and Paramount+ partnering on the production. Trauma will premiere on Paramount+ in all available territories excluding the U.K. and Ireland, where distribution details will be announced separately.
A Hospital Becomes a Battlefield
Trauma centers on Jim Marchant (Richard Madden), a former Royal Marines medic who now works as an emergency room physician.
When terrorists storm a busy London hospital and take the Prime Minister hostage during surgery, Marchant is forced to rely on both his military training and medical expertise to survive. Fighting floor by floor through the occupied hospital, he becomes the last line of defense for patients, staff, and hostages as the balance of power shifts throughout the building.
Blending the intensity of a medical drama with the relentless pace of a siege thriller, the series promises a tense, real-time survival story unfolding over the course of a single unforgettable night.
Richard Madden Leads an Experienced Creative Team
The series is created and written by Geoff Bussetil, whose previous credits include Slow Horses, Scoop, and Skins.
Daniel Syrkin (Tehran, MobLand) will direct, while Chrissy Skinns (A Spy Among Friends, The Last Kingdom) serves as producer. Madden also executive produces alongside Syrkin, Ben Pugh, Ben Cavey, and creator Geoff Bussetil.
According to Paramount+, the series represents exactly the kind of ambitious global storytelling the service is looking to expand, pairing an internationally recognized star with a high-concept premise designed to keep viewers on edge.
