ONE PIECE Season 3 Casts Emilio Sakraya as Koza, Adds Three More Alabasta Characters

Netflix is adding four more familiar faces from the One Piece manga and anime to the live-action world of the Straw Hats.

Emilio Sakraya has been cast as Koza in ONE PIECE Season 3, officially titled ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta. He’ll be joined by Omid Abtahi as Toto, Jamie Ward as Pell and Nabeel Khan as Chaka. All four actors will appear in recurring roles when the Netflix series returns in 2027.

The additions fill out several important roles in the upcoming Alabasta storyline, which will find Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew attempting to help Princess Vivi save her homeland from a brewing civil war.

And behind that conflict is one of the most formidable villains the Straw Hats have encountered yet: Sir Crocodile.

Emilio Sakraya Will Play Koza in ONE PIECE Season 3

Emilio Sakraya will portray Koza, a character with deep connections to Vivi and the escalating conflict in Alabasta.

Sakraya may already be familiar to Netflix viewers from 60 Minutes, while his other credits include RheingoldThose About to Die and Fortitude. Netflix lists Sakraya first among its four newly announced recurring cast members.

Koza becomes particularly important as the political situation in Alabasta deteriorates. Without getting too far into manga and anime spoilers, his presence gives the live-action adaptation another key piece of the civil-war storyline Season 3 is preparing to tackle.

For viewers who already know the Alabasta arc, Sakraya’s casting also provides another indication that Netflix intends to bring many of the storyline’s supporting characters into live action rather than dramatically simplifying the conflict.

Omid Abtahi Cast as Toto

Omid Abtahi will play Toto, giving the Season 3 cast another recognizable television veteran.

Abtahi’s credits include The Mandalorian and American Gods, along with an extensive résumé spanning television, film and voice work.

Toto is Koza’s father and another character closely connected to Alabasta and its people.

That relationship makes casting Koza and Toto together particularly fitting as Netflix begins revealing more of the characters who will populate Vivi’s homeland.

Jamie Ward Will Play Pell

Jamie Ward has been cast as Pell, one of the warriors who serves the Kingdom of Alabasta.

Ward previously appeared in The Gentlemen and His Dark Materials

Pell should be another immediately recognizable name for longtime One Piece fans, particularly given his role in protecting Alabasta as the kingdom moves toward war.

Nabeel Khan Joins ONE PIECE as Chaka

Rounding out the four new additions is Nabeel Khan as Chaka.

Khan’s previous credits include Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and Strike Back

Like Pell, Chaka is one of Alabasta’s warriors, giving Netflix two more important members of the kingdom’s defenses as the live-action series prepares for its largest conflict yet.

Taken together, Koza, Toto, Pell and Chaka make the world surrounding Vivi considerably more complete.

What Is ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta About?

Season 3 picks up after Luffy and the Straw Hats agreed to help Princess Vivi.

Their journey takes them into the desert kingdom of Alabasta, where a rebellion threatens to tear the country apart.

But the conflict isn’t happening by accident.

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Sir Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and his underground organization Baroque Works are secretly fueling the rebellion as part of an effort to seize control of the kingdom.

That puts Luffy and his crew directly in the middle of a civil war as they attempt to help Vivi save her home before Alabasta collapses.

Netflix is clearly treating the storyline as a major step forward for the series. Season 3 co-showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes described Alabasta as the arc that turned many readers and viewers into lifelong One Piece fans, highlighting its combination of world-building, memorable characters and emotional storytelling.

Who Is Returning for ONE PIECE Season 3?

The core Straw Hat crew will return for The Battle of Alabasta.

Iñaki Godoy returns as Monkey D. Luffy alongside Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

Charithra Chandran returns as Vivi, while Joe Manganiello’s Sir Crocodile will become especially important as the Alabasta conflict takes center stage.

The expanding Season 3 ensemble also includes Mikaela Hoover as Chopper, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra. Previously announced newcomers include Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger and Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1

It’s becoming an enormous cast, but that makes sense for the story Netflix is adapting.

Alabasta isn’t simply another stop on the Straw Hats’ journey. It’s an entire kingdom filled with competing loyalties, political unrest and characters whose decisions will determine its future.

When Does ONE PIECE Season 3 Come Out?

ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta will arrive on Netflix in 2027, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

Netflix’s Tudum update describes Season 3 as currently in production, while separate reporting says principal photography has wrapped in Cape Town, South Africa. Until Netflix provides a dedicated production-status announcement, the safest takeaway is simply that the season is on track for its announced 2027 window.

With Koza, Toto, Pell and Chaka now officially cast, The Battle of Alabasta is looking increasingly crowded — and increasingly recognizable to anyone who already knows what’s waiting for the Straw Hats in the desert.

Netflix is also expanding the franchise in animation, with WIT Studio’s entirely separate THE ONE PIECE anime adaptation arriving in February 2027.
