FOX has released the official synopsis and episode details for Murder in a Small Town Season 2 Episode 9, titled “Fall of Holman,” promising one of the season’s most politically charged and suspenseful installments yet.

In Episode 209, tensions erupt when Mayor Christie Holman is violently attacked shortly after hosting a high-profile fundraiser at her home. As investigators dig deeper, a web of political deception begins to surface—turning nearly everyone in Holman’s orbit into a potential suspect. Meanwhile, Cassandra faces a chilling moment of her own when a figure from her past resurfaces, threatening the fragile stability she and Karl have fought to build.

About the Series

Murder in a Small Town follows Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), a highly skilled detective who relocates to the quiet coastal community of Gibsons to serve as the new police chief. Despite the town’s peaceful facade, Karl quickly learns that its serene shoreline hides secrets—and murders—waiting to be uncovered. At his side is Cassandra Lee (Kristin Kreuk), a town librarian whose deepening relationship with Karl is tested as her responsibilities and influence in the community expand.

Season 2 Overview

The second season widens Karl’s jurisdiction and workload, throwing him into increasingly complex cases:

A shocking murder at a wedding between feuding families
A double kidnapping masking a much darker crime
A pop star’s quiet getaway shattered by a dangerous stalker
And new threats emerging from within the town itself

Season 2 also features Academy Award-winner Marcia Gay Harden as Mayor Christie Holman, a charismatic but politically shrewd community leader whose personal interests often complicate Karl and Cassandra’s lives.

The cast also includes Bethany Brown, Marci T. House, Joshua Close, and more.

Based on the Edgar Award-winning Karl Alberg novels by L.R. Wright, the series is produced by Sepia Films in association with FOX Entertainment and Future Shack Entertainment.
