Green Day Celebrates Nimrods

The special Comic-Con event will feature members of Green DayMason Thames, and filmmaker Lee Kirk as they promote the upcoming theatrical release of Nimrods.

Inspired by Green Day’s early years touring in a van before the release of their landmark album Dookie, the comedy follows an aspiring band whose dream road trip quickly spirals into chaos.

What Is Nimrods About?

Nimrods follows Tommy, a young musician whose life changes after receiving what he believes is an invitation for his band to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve.

The only problem? The invitation is actually an elaborate prank orchestrated by his older brother.

Refusing to believe the opportunity isn’t real, Tommy steals his brother’s car and convinces his band to make a frantic cross-country drive from Kansas City to Los Angeles in hopes of making the show, leading to a wild road-trip comedy inspired by Green Day’s own early touring adventures.

The film arrives exclusively in theaters on August 14.

The cast includes Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn.

Lee Kirk wrote and directed the film, while Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool serve as producers alongside Tim Perell. Ryan Kroft, Michael Rapino, and Jonathan Daniel executive produce.
