Ryan Gosling officially has a date with the Spirit of Vengeance.
Disney has set Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider for July 28, 2028, giving the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film starring Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy an official theatrical release date.
The film was originally announced during Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Ghost Rider was officially riding into the MCU.
Gosling will star as Marvel’s iconic Spirit of Vengeance, with Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) behind the camera and Jonathan Tropper writing the screenplay. Marvel has not yet revealed which incarnation of Ghost Rider Gosling will portray.

Ryan Gosling Finally Gets His Dream Marvel Role
Taking the Hall H stage for the original announcement, Gosling shared his excitement about finally bringing one of his dream Marvel characters to life.
“Wow. Is this really happening? As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time. But if we’re really going to do this, there’s only one director who can do it.”
Moments later, Levy joined Gosling on stage to confirm he would be behind the camera for Marvel’s supernatural adventure.
The project grew out of conversations between the pair while working together on Star Wars: Starfighter, with Levy telling the Comic-Con crowd:
“We spent a lot of time last year making Star Wars: Starfighter, and as Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing, and I finally said, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ So guys, we’ll see you in 2028.”
Gosling and Levy will also reunite with screenwriter Jonathan Tropper, who worked with the pair on Star Wars: Starfighter.
