Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s eight-episode reinvention of Stephen King’s landmark horror novel. Summer H. Howell takes on the iconic role of Carrie White when all eight episodes premiere Wednesday, October 7, 2026 on Prime Video.
The new trailer offers the clearest look yet at how Flanagan is bringing Carrie’s story into the modern world. Carrie enters public high school after spending much of her life isolated at home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret, only to find herself facing bullying, social-media cruelty and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.
Howell stars alongside Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

The official trailer expands considerably on the first teaser, showing Carrie attempting to navigate public school, tentative friendships and the cruelty of classmates who quickly discover how vulnerable she is.
The modern setting also gives one of the story’s most infamous moments a disturbing new dimension. When Carrie panics after getting her period at school, her classmates don’t simply torment her — they record the incident, allowing her humiliation to spread beyond the locker room.
That contemporary approach is central to Flanagan’s version of Carrie, which explores how social media and viral bullying amplify the pressures surrounding a teenager who has spent much of her life isolated from the outside world.
Summer H. Howell Is the New Carrie White
Summer H. Howell was selected to play Carrie White following an extensive casting search that saw nearly 1,500 actors read for the role.
This version begins with Carrie entering the unfamiliar world of public high school following the sudden death of her father. She has spent her life largely hidden away with Margaret, and her attempts to find friendship and acceptance collide with both the cruelty of her classmates and powers she is only beginning to understand.
This new adaptation of Carrie isn’t simply stretching King’s story across eight episodes. Prime Video says the additional space will allow the series to deepen its characters and examine the smaller choices that ultimately build toward the catastrophic night at the center of the story.

Joining Summer H. Howell and Samantha Sloyan are Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
The recurring cast includes several familiar members of Mike Flanagan’s creative circle, including Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Kate Siegel and Rahul Kohli, along with Tim Bagley and Heather Graham.
Mike Flanagan Brings Carrie to Television
Carrie marks the first time Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel has been adapted as a television series. The book previously inspired Brian De Palma’s acclaimed 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Flanagan serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, with King also executive producing. Flanagan directed Episodes 1, 2, 7 and 8. Kate Siegel, Axelle Carolyn, Kyra Sedgwick and Hiromi Kamata each direct one of the four remaining episodes.
