Apple TV has released the first trailer for Cape Fear, the upcoming psychological thriller limited series starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson. Inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 classic, the new reimagining premieres June 5 and turns a family’s past legal victory into a terrifying fight for survival.
CAPE FEAR TRAILER
Showrun and executive produced by Nick Antosca, Cape Fear also boasts powerhouse executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, reimagining the chilling story for a new generation.
The 10-episode limited series premieres globally on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the first two episodes debuting on Apple TV, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31, 2026.
Inspired by the 1991 psychological thriller directed by Martin Scorsese, Cape Fear follows married attorneys Anna Bowden (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) as their lives spiral into terror when Max Cady (Javier Bardem) — the convicted killer they helped send to prison — is unexpectedly released and returns seeking revenge.
The newly released trailer teases a slow-burning nightmare filled with paranoia, obsession, and the kind of psychological tension that made the original film a classic.
Joining Bardem, Adams, and Wilson in the ensemble are Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, with supporting performances from CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector, and Anna Baryshnikov.
Based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, Cape Fear draws inspiration from both the original 1962 Universal Pictures adaptation starring Gregory Peck and the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese.
The series comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. Antosca executive produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce for Amblin Television. Morten Tyldum directs the pilot episode and also serves as executive producer.
With a cast led by Academy Award heavyweights and a creative team stacked with prestige talent, Cape Fear is shaping up to be one of Apple TV’s most anticipated thrillers of 2026.
