Avengers Endgame Encore Ending Explained: Loki Visits Steve and Peggy

The original Endgame closes with Steve Rogers finally sharing his dance with Peggy Carter. Encore extends that moment: a knock interrupts them, Peggy answers the door, and Loki appears wearing his TVA uniform. He offers to help them both, and Steve steps into view before the film cuts to black.

That changes the function of the scene. Steve’s dance originally gave his story a sense of arrival. The added encounter introduces another obligation at the very moment he seems to have escaped the demands of being Captain America.

Loki’s presence is particularly significant because his TVA story began with the 2012 branch created during Endgame’s Time Heist. Bringing him to Steve’s doorstep reconnects that branching story with the film that helped launch it.

What the scene does not resolve is equally important. Post-Credits Scene 1: Doctor Doom Comes for Bruce Banner

One sequence finds Bruce Banner isolated in an underground military facility, working on suppressing the Hulk. His video log is interrupted by a green light and Doctor Doom’s arrival. Doom announces that he has come to collect Banner; a Hulk roar follows, and the encounter ends with their disappearance.

The immediate implication is that Doom has a specific interest in Banner. Whether that interest concerns his scientific knowledge, the Hulk’s power or something else remains unanswered.

It is tempting to call this a recruitment scene, but “recruitment” suggests a choice the footage does not establish. The encounter presents Doom as someone willing to remove a powerful figure from hiding on his own terms. That makes Banner’s situation ominous without proving what role he will play in Doom’s plans.

Post-Credits Scene 2: The TVA Faces a Multiverse Collapse

Another sequence returns to the TVA, where Mobius, Casey and O.B. confront an incursion involving Earth-10005 and Earth-1127. The threatened worlds are attacking each other, and the emergency expands as thousands of additional incursions appear.

For viewers who need the terminology, an incursion involves universes colliding, potentially destroying them. The alarming part here is the scale: the TVA is confronting a crisis spreading far beyond a single pair of realities.

Earth-10005 also gives the scene a recognizable connection to the Fox X-Men continuity. Its inclusion helps position the coming conflict as something affecting multiple established Marvel worlds.

The footage suggests a much larger emergency for Doomsday, but it does not establish that Doom personally caused every collision. A villain appearing alongside a catastrophe is not yet a complete explanation of that catastrophe.

Post-Credits Scene 3: Doctor Doom and the Hammering Sound

The final addition gives a new image to the metallic hammering heard at the end of the original movie’s credits. Encore shows Doctor Doom forging his mask, connecting that familiar sound to Marvel’s next major antagonist.

The association is deliberately provocative. A sound that recalled Tony Stark building his first armor now accompanies the creation of another metal identity.

That does not, by itself, prove Doctor Doom is Tony Stark or a Tony Stark variant. It creates a visual and auditory connection. Explaining the character’s identity requires more than a shared sound and the audience’s knowledge of Robert Downey Jr.’s history with Marvel.

The effect is unsettling precisely because it borrows something once associated with a hero’s beginnings and points it toward a threat.
