Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 Teaser Trailer Reveals January 2027 Premiere Date

Ahsoka Season 2 is officially headed back to Disney+ in January, and the first teaser brings Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker back into Rosario Dawson’s journey as the threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn grows.

The first teaser trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 debuted during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, along with confirmation that the new season will premiere January 20, 2027, exclusively on Disney+.

And if the first footage is any indication, the stakes are about to get considerably bigger.

The teaser reunites Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano with Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, who continues to challenge his former Padawan as she wrestles with one of the biggest questions still hanging over her story: Is Ahsoka a Jedi or not?

At the same time, Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn is back and looking to rally the remnants of the Empire, setting up a much larger conflict for Ahsoka and her allies in Season 2.

Anakin Skywalker Returns in the Ahsoka Season 2 Trailer

Christensen’s return appears to be much more than a quick cameo.

The Ahsoka Season 2 teaser features Anakin training the younger Ahsoka, played once again by Ariana Greenblatt, while also communicating with Dawson’s adult Ahsoka.

Speaking at D23, Christensen said Anakin will continue to advise and challenge his former apprentice, ultimately pushing Ahsoka to confront what being a Jedi means to her.

That relationship became one of the highlights of Ahsoka Season 1, particularly when Christensen returned as Anakin in the World Between Worlds. Season 2 now appears ready to continue exploring the connection between master and apprentice rather than treating his return as a one-time event.

Grand Admiral Thrawn Raises the Stakes

Of course, Ahsoka has another considerably more dangerous problem.

Following his return at the end of Season 1, Thrawn is positioned to become an even greater threat as he attempts to unite the Imperial remnant against the New Republic.

Dawson teased a significantly larger second season during the D23 presentation, promising bigger battles and higher stakes as Thrawn’s shadow hangs over Ahsoka and her allies.

Meanwhile, Eman Esfandi returns as Ezra Bridger, who finally made it home and reunited with Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) after years stranded in another galaxy.

Ezra’s return puts another familiar member of the Star Wars Rebels family back in the fight just as the New Republic faces the growing danger posed by Thrawn.

The new footage offers the first substantial look at where Dave Filoni is taking the story following Season 1, while continuing threads stretching all the way back through Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars.

Disney and Lucasfilm also unveiled new Ahsoka Season 2 poster art at D23 featuring Ahsoka beneath a looming image of Thrawn, surrounded by red silhouettes of characters including Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo).

The timing is also notable: Season 2 arrives just weeks before the theatrical re-release of the original Star Wars as Lucasfilm celebrates the film’s 50th anniversary in 2027.

Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20, 2027 on Disney+. Season 1 is streaming now.
