Watson Season 2 Episode 6 “Buying Time” – Photos, Story Details & What to Expect

Watson continues its emotionally charged second season with Watson Season 2 Episode 6, titled “Buying Time,” airing Monday, Nov. 17 (10:00–11:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and streaming next day on Paramount+. This week’s episode blends urgent medical mystery, personal stakes, and growing institutional threats—all of which push Dr. Watson and UHOP to a breaking point.

In “Buying Time,” Dr. John Watson and his team face one of their most intense cases yet when a 21-year-old athlete named Xavier is diagnosed with a rapidly growing, seemingly incurable cancer. With symptoms worsening by the hour, the UHOP “doc-tectives” must race to understand what’s causing the aggressive progression and search for any experimental or unconventional treatments that might give Xavier a fighting chance.

As the team digs deeper, the pressure mounts—not only because of Xavier’s deteriorating condition, but because Mycroft Holmes delivers devastating news: UHOP’s funding may soon disappear. Without financial support, Watson’s groundbreaking program for rare and unsolved medical cases could collapse. The looming threat forces Watson to confront the possibility that the very institution he fought to build is now at risk.

Written by Anna Mackey and directed by Clara Aranovich, Episode 6 balances pulse-pounding urgency with emotional resonance, showcasing the team’s expertise, the weight of their decisions, and the uncertainty of UHOP’s future. “Buying Time” marks a turning point as Watson’s fight to save one young man mirrors his broader battle to save the clinic that defines his mission.

About the Series

WATSON is a medical drama with a sharp investigative spine, starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson in a modern reinvention of one of history’s most iconic detectives. Instead of solving crimes, this Watson applies his razor-sharp deductive abilities to the complex world of medical mysteries—using observational brilliance, intuitive leaps, and forensic-level thinking to diagnose illnesses no one else can crack.

Watson leads a hand-picked team of “doc-tectives,” an elite unit dedicated to solving the world’s rarest and most baffling medical conditions. Although they defeated Moriarty in Season 1, the team remains committed to uncovering hidden diagnoses and saving patients that the medical establishment has deemed unsalvageable.

In Season 2, Watson faces his greatest challenge yet when Sherlock Holmes—long presumed dead—resurfaces, forcing him to confront a buried secret from his past… one that is tied directly to his own body. This revelation threatens to destabilize everything he has built, both personally and professionally.

The second season premiered Monday, Oct. 13 (10:00–11:00 PM ET/PT) on CBS and streams live and on demand on Paramount+.
