The Lowdown Season 2 trailer and photos bring Ethan Hawke back as Lee Raybon, Tulsa’s self-appointed “truthstorian,” with two newcomers poised to complicate his next investigation: Tommy Lee Jones as Lee’s estranged father and Betty Gilpin as a public defender who draws him into another conspiracy.
FX’s official trailer finds Lee ready to get into trouble again. After his reporting on Dale Washberg earns him a local award, public defender Ginger (Gilpin) asks for help with a baffling case: one of her clients has vanished from the state penitentiary. The search leads Lee toward the powerful people and possible corruption he can never resist investigating.

Lee’s personal life is just as unsettled. His father, Lee Raybon Senior (Jones), turns up in Tulsa after years apart, creating an awkward problem for Lee: he previously told his daughter Francis that her grandfather was dead. Ginger, meanwhile, may be willing to work with Lee on the missing-prisoner case, even if she is less susceptible to his charm.

The Lowdown returns with its first two episodes on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu. Subsequent episodes arrive Wednesdays. Season 1 is available now on the show’s Hulu page, and viewers can find more information on the official FX show page.

The Lowdown Season 2 Photos and Cast
The new photos offer another look at Hawke, Jones and Gilpin ahead of the premiere. Returning cast members include Keith David as Marty, Kaniehtiio Horn as Sam, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Francis, Killer Mike as Cyrus, Michael Hitchcock as Ray, Macon Blair as Dan, Siena East as Diedra, Cody Lightning as Waylon and Jude Barnett as Cousin Henry. Martha Plimpton is among this season’s guest stars.
Sterlin Harjo, who created the series, returns as writer, director and executive producer. Season 2 consists of eight episodes.
