The characters have more depth, it would seem, and I am starting to believe the chemistry between the three leads. I liked the Wendy story, involving the lead character of her newest movie slacking off for a secret reason. It’s good to see Noah Bean getting some work since his David was killed off of Damages. I also like the storyline involving her mother, played by Mary Tyler Moore. Victory’s newest PR person, played by Rosie Perez, totally made me like the Victory story. She added so much to her few scenes that I’m interested to see where it goes. For me, the first two episodes were all about the storyline involving Kim Raver’s husband. Last season, he had a heart attack, and this year is all about the fallout from that.
Whereas last year, the men were my favorite part of the show, this year, I’m definitely feeling a sense that they’ve been dialed back, and that the show is definitely focused on the women (as it should be). Paul Blackthorne, Andrew McCarthy, and Robert Buckley are still there, and still interesting characters.
All in all, I think they’ve found their footing and have set themselves up to have a really great season 2 if they stay on this track!
