Scary Movie is making the jump from theaters to streaming.
Paramount+ has announced that the sixth installment in the horror-comedy franchise will begin streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on September 3, 2026, bringing Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans back to screens just months after the movie’s theatrical release.
The streaming debut gives viewers another chance to catch the franchise’s long-awaited return after Scary Movie arrived in theaters earlier this year, more than 13 years after Scary Movie 5 and 26 years after the original film.

The movie arrives on the service following a successful theatrical run that generated more than $230 million at the worldwide box office. According to Variety, the revival delivered a strong return for the long-dormant franchise after more than a decade away from theaters.

The new movie also brought back several of the performers most closely associated with Scary Movie, including Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks, Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks and Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins.
The Original Scary Movie Favorites Are Back
The sixth Scary Movie doesn’t limit its reunion to Cindy, Brenda, Shorty and Ray.
Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott also return to the franchise.
They’re joined by a large group of newcomers that includes Kenan Thompson, Kim Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Cameron Scott Roberts, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Benny Zielke and Ruby Snowber.
With so many familiar faces returning, the movie was designed as both a continuation of the franchise and a reunion more than two decades after Scary Movie first turned the biggest horror movies of its era into targets.
No Horror Franchise Is Safe
This time, the returning characters find themselves back in a killer’s crosshairs while the movie takes aim at the modern horror landscape.
Reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories and Hollywood’s seemingly endless supply of “final chapters” all become targets.
It’s a fitting update for a franchise built around parodying whatever was dominating horror at the time.
The original Scary Movie arrived in 2000 and famously skewered movies including Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. More than a quarter-century later, horror has changed considerably — giving the Wayans family an entirely new generation of franchises, trends and genre conventions to tear apart.
The Wayans Family Returns Behind the Camera
The reunion extends behind the scenes as well.
Michael Tiddes directs Scary Movie, with the screenplay credited to Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans and Rick Alvarez.
Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans and Alvarez also serve as producers.
Paramount Pictures presents the film in association with Miramax.
The Wayans family’s renewed involvement is particularly notable for longtime fans. Marlon and Shawn Wayans starred in the first two movies, while Keenen Ivory Wayans directed both Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2.
Their return helped reconnect the sixth installment with the era that established the franchise.
