Passenger Streaming Premiere Set for August 20 on Paramount+

Passenger is pulling into Paramount+ this month. The supernatural horror film will make its exclusive streaming premiere Thursday, August 20 in the United States, following its theatrical release earlier this year.

Directed by André Øvredal, the filmmaker behind The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Scary Stories to Tell in the DarkPassenger stars Jacob Scipio, Lou Llobell and Melissa Leo in a road-trip nightmare where surviving a horrific accident turns out to be only the beginning.

What Is Passenger About?

Passenger follows a young couple whose van-life adventure takes a terrifying turn after they witness a gruesome highway accident.

They may leave the crash scene behind, but they soon discover that something has come with them.

A demonic presence known as the Passenger has attached itself to the couple, turning their journey into a supernatural nightmare. Worse, whatever is pursuing them has no intention of stopping until it claims them both.

The contained road-trip premise gives Øvredal plenty of room to play with isolation and paranoia, with the couple trapped between continuing down the highway and confronting something they may have no way to escape.

Who Stars in Passenger?

Jacob Scipio stars in the film following appearances in Bad BoysThe Mother and Expend4bles. He’s joined by Lou Llobell, best known to television audiences for her role in Apple TV+’s Foundation, and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, whose credits include The FighterFrozen River and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Øvredal directs from a screenplay written by Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess.

Passenger is produced by Walter Hamada and Gary Dauberman, with Jenny Hinkey, Nathan Samdahl, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro and Andrew Lary serving as executive producers.

Passenger Joins Paramount+’s Growing Horror Library

The streaming arrival gives horror fans another title to add to Paramount+’s increasingly deep genre collection.

The service is already home to the Smile, A Quiet Place and Scream franchises, alongside Paramount+ originals including the Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A, starring Julia Garner, and Vicious, starring Dakota Fanning.

Passenger should fit comfortably alongside them, particularly for viewers looking for a self-contained supernatural horror story before Halloween season gets fully underway.

When Is Passenger Streaming on Paramount+?

Passenger begins streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

The film previously received a wide theatrical release from Paramount Pictures on May 22.
