New On Amazon Prime Video December 2020

December brings new Amazon Original Movies, Series and Specials including Sound of Metal (2020)starring Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke; the premiere of YA drama series The Wilds; I’m Your Woman(2020), a 1970s crime drama starring Rachel Brosnahan; season 5 of fan-favorite sci-fi drama The Expanse; The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt, featuring Richard, James and Jeremy’s latest adventure; Sylvie’s Love (2020), a love story set in 1950s Harlem starring Tessa Thompson; Yearly Departed, an end-of-the-year comedy special hosted by Phoebe Robinson of Two Dope Queens; and new episodes of family-friendly Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Prime members can also enjoy movies new to Prime including Valley Girl (2020), a musical adaptation of the hit 1983 film; Blackbird (2020) starring Susan Sarandon as a dying matriarch hosting her family one last time; Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009), starring the voices of Bill Hader and Anna Faris; and A League Of Their Own (1992), the big-league classic starring Geena Davis and Tom Hanks. Two James Bond classics are coming back to Prime starring Sean Connery as 007, Dr. No (1963) and Goldfinger (1965). Other Bond films featuring Connery already included with Prime include From Russia With Love (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

In honor of November’s National Native American Heritage Month and ahead of Native American Heritage Day on November 27, Prime Video has put together a collection of movies and shows celebrating native and indeginious stories, storytellers and actors. The collection can be found on the Prime Video homepage and includes titles such as Turquoise Rose (2007), a coming of age story about a Navajo girl from Phoenix, Arizona; More Than Frybread (2012), a comedic mockumentary following a fictional fry-bread competition; and 7th Generation (2017), an award-winning documentary about Oglala Lakota tribal member Jim Warne’s efforts in helping Tribal Nations find a way to succeed in a contemporary American system.
New Originals:

  • Sound of Metal (2020) During a series of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, itinerant punk-metal drummer Ruben (Riz Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career —and with it his life —is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation. But after being welcomed into a community that accepts him just as he is, Ruben has to choose between his equilibrium and the drive to reclaim the life he once knew. Utilizing startling, innovative sound design techniques, director Darius Marder takes audiences inside Ruben’s experience to vividly recreate his journey into a rarely examined world.   • Part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party, The Wilds follows a group of teen girls from different backgrounds who must fight for survival after a plane crash strands them on a deserted island. The castaways both clash and bond as they learn more about each other, the secrets they keep, and the traumas they’ve all endured. There’s just one twist to this thrilling drama…these girls did not end up on this island by accident. Available in UHD and HDR. Streaming December 11
  • A decidedly female take on crime dramas of the 1970s, I’m Your Woman (2020) is a tale of love, betrayal, motherhood—and what it takes to claim your life as your own. Suburban housewife Jean (Rachel Brosnahan) lives a seemingly easy life, supported by husband Eddie’s (Bill Heck) career as a thief. But when Eddie betrays his partners, Jean and her baby are forced to go on the run, and Eddie’s old friend Cal (Arinzé Kene) is tasked with keeping them safe. After Cal mysteriously disappears, Jean befriends his wife Teri (Marsha Stephanie Blake) and the two women set out on a perilous journey into the heart of Eddie’s criminal underworld.
