Michael Weatherly Returns As Tony DiNozzo For Major NCIS Season 24 Storyline

CBS has announced that Michael Weatherly will reprise his beloved role as Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo in a season-long story arc during NCIS Season 24, reuniting the fan-favorite agent with the NCIS team for the 2026-2027 television season.

Weatherly originally starred on NCIS for 13 seasons, appearing in more than 300 episodes before departing the series in 2016. Since then, he has returned to the franchise through the Paramount+ original series NCIS: TONY & ZIVA, which reunited Tony with Ziva David as the pair embarked on a new chapter together.

His return to the flagship series marks one of the biggest casting announcements in recent NCIS history and is sure to excite longtime fans who have been hoping to see Tony back alongside his former teammates.

The announcement comes as NCIS continues its remarkable run as the longest-running primetime drama on CBS. Earlier this year, the series celebrated its milestone 500th episode and remains the #1 television franchise worldwide, continuing to expand with multiple successful spinoffs across broadcast television and Paramount+.
