Mayor of Kingstown Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

Paramount+ today announced that Mayor of Kingstown has been renewed for an eight-episode fifth and final season, bringing the gritty crime drama to a definitive conclusion. The series stars Oscar® nominee Jeremy Renner and Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Edie Falco, who will both return for the final chapter.

Co-created by Oscar® nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown has become one of Paramount+’s signature dramas. The renewal comes just days after the season four finale aired on December 28, closing out a critically acclaimed run that currently holds a 100% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Season four saw Mike McLusky’s grip on Kingstown tested like never before as new power players emerged to fill the vacuum left by the Russians. The escalating gang war forced Mike to confront threats from all sides while attempting to keep the town from collapsing into chaos. At the same time, the danger facing those closest to him intensified, particularly as he clashed with a headstrong new Warden and wrestled with unresolved demons from his past.

In addition to Renner and Falco, season four starred BAFTA Award® winner Lennie James, Tony® Award® winner Laura Benanti, along with Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi. The ensemble cast has been widely praised for grounding the series’ brutal realism with emotional depth.

Mayor of Kingstown is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Hugh Dillon, Jeremy Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, and Keith Cox, with Erickson also serving as showrunner. The fifth and final season is expected to deliver a conclusive end to Mike McLusky’s story, closing the book on one of the most uncompromising dramas in modern television.
