"Between our Emmy nomination, the premiere of Mad Men and now these final rating numbers, it has been a truly historic week for AMC," stated Charlie Collier, General Manager and EVP for AMC. "We had very clear and specific set of expectations for Mad Men, both as a series and how it can best serve the network as a whole, and we have surpassed them all. In an era where content priorities now consist of reality programming, game shows, wrestling and procedural reruns, AMC has built a unique original programming vision focused on quality. No one in cable can couple cinematic originals with our library of enduring iconic movies and last week provided a glimpse of the unique way we can serve the marketplace. We are very pleased with what we saw last week and we look forward to the coming weeks, where we will continue to building off these successes."

Set in 1960 New York, the one hour drama received tremendous critical acclaim heading into its premiere, chronicling the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell while their private world gets sold. The show airs each Thursday at 10 pm EST.
