Jonathan Murphy Life On Mars

JONATHAN MURPHY
Detective Chris Skelton on the ABC Television Network's "Life on Mars"

Jonathan Murphy had to juggle roles on both the second season of ABC's drama series "October Road," portraying Ronnie Garrett, and the hit ABC Family series "Wildfire," where he played Calvin Handley, the inventor of the wind turbine.

Other television credits include appearances on "Cold Case," "Without a Trace," "Ghost Whisperer" and "American Dreams," as well as Hallmark Television's Western drama and Heritage Award winner, "The Trail to Hope Rose," with Ernest Borgnine and Lou Diamond Phillips.

On the big screen Murphy starred in "Broken Windows" (2009), opposite Larisa Oleynik. He also teamed up with Christian Oliver and Alex Rocco in the comedy "Ready or Not" (2008), and appeared in "Mini's First Time" (2006) with Nikki Reed.

Murphy grew up in Arlington, Texas, in the heart of Dallas/Ft. Worth, and credits a high school rendition of "Once Upon a Mattress" for peaking his interest in acting at age 17. He trained extensively at Texas theatres, including Ft. Worth's famed Casa Ma–ana Theatre and Dallas' Theatre Three, while also attending Texas Christian University.

Not surprisingly, Murphy is a big sports fan and supports all Texas teams, with the Dallas Cowboys topping the list. When not acting, he is working on compiling free form writing in the hope of putting out his first book. He recently completed his first screenplay and enjoys playing a good game of cards or a great round of golf.

Murphy currently resides in New York with his beloved Puggle, Lily.
