The latest installment of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" kicks off with a 90 minute season premiere episode Monday, September 24th. Chit Chat Gal got a chance to speak with Jane Seymour about the season, her dance history and her partner Tony's "magical hips."

How did you get involved with Dancing with the Stars?

Well I was a big fan of the show prior to being on it. I had been offered to do the show a few times but didn't think I physically could do the show because I had back surgery 4 years ago. This time around I asked my doctors and they said they thought the dance would be good for my back and although my mother is very sick because she had a stroke recently I asked her if she would want me to do it and the only word she has said since her stroke was "yes" when I asked her this question and she lit up and my sister told me this is one of her favorite shows.

Were you a fan of the British version or the American version before you decided to do the show?

I actually had not seen the British version, but both my family and I are huge fans of the American version.  It is our guilty pleasure.  And actually our children aren't allowed to watch television, but the deal is if all of their homework is done they can watch Dancing with the Stars. I have all boys at home so it is great that they love this show so much.

What have you learned about yourself since starting to do this show?

I have learned that dance is very important in my life still even though it has been 40 years since I have been in a dance studio.  Dance is bringing joy and pleasure to my life.  I have learned that I am not afraid of hard work and that my body can move a lot more than I thought it could.  And from dancing I have realized that some of my body injuries and aches and pains have gone away since starting this.

Can you tell us who your partner is, how long you have been practicing for, and how it is going so far?

My partner is Tony Dovolani who has been the National Champion the last two years so I am very lucky to be with him.  He is probably the toughest partner and coach of the whole bunch. We have been training for the last 3 weeks and I have already without trying lost 14 pounds, I am in the best shape I have been in since I was 16 years old. Of course I am worn out and sore but just very happy to be doing this.

If you weren't on the show this year who do you think your boys would be rooting for?

Probably Floyd Mayweather because the boys are all very athletic.

You mentioned you had done dance in the past, how long ago was that and why did you stop?

When I was 5 years old I was told by doctors that I had very flat feet so my mother put me into ballet.  I loved it and when I was 16-years-old I got a partial scholarship to a theatre/dancing/music type school and so I did that for a while but I ended up injuring my knees and having to go to the hospital for quite awhile and so that ended my dance career. So it has been 40 years since I have been in a dance studio.

Do you have a type of dance you are looking forward to doing?

I have only learned two dances so far but I love the Fox Trot because of the Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire of it all, and that is actually the first dance I will be doing, but there are so many others I haven't done and hope I get the chance to try.

If you could choose between dancing with James Bond or Sully from “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman” which would you choose and why?

Well neither of the characters were known for their dance abilities but I would probably say dancing with James Bond would probably be more dangerous and dancing with Sully you know would be more romantic and a true love experience so probably Sully.
