TNT’s epic drama Falling Skies, which ranked as basic cable’s #1 summer drama with adults 25-54 last year, launched its third season Sunday night with more than 4.2 million viewers and growth among young adults. In the demos, the two-hour season premiere of Falling Skies drew more than 2.1 million adults 25-54 and 1.9 million adults 18-49, the latter up slightly over last year’s season premiere.
Falling Skies garnered significant growth among the younger set, boosting its delivery of adults 18-34 (772,000) by +24% over last year’s season premiere. In addition, Sunday night’s audience for Falling Skies had a projected median age of 47, two years younger than last summer’s premiere.
Falling Skies’ strong performance Sunday night ranks it among basic cable’s Top 5 scripted-series season premieres this year with total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. It also helped TNT rank as basic cable’s #1 network in primetime Sunday night, according to preliminary household metered market data.
