Criminal Minds Season 8 Episode 23, “Brothers Hotchner,” brings a case unusually close to home for Aaron Hotchner when the BAU investigates a string of deaths in Manhattan connected to apparent ecstasy overdoses. Hotch soon discovers that his estranged younger brother, Sean, is caught in the middle of the investigation.
At the same time, the threat that has been following the team throughout the season continues to grow as the Replicator begins targeting the BAU directly. This episode of Criminal Minds serves as the first half of the two-part Season 8 finale, which concludes with “The Replicator.”
“Brothers Hotchner” stars Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner, Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Spencer Reid, A.J. Cook as Jennifer Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia and Jeanne Tripplehorn as Alex Blake. Eric Johnson guest stars as Sean Hotchner, with Bellamy Young returning as Beth Clemmons.
The episode originally aired May 22, 2013 on CBS. “Brothers Hotchner” was written by Rick Dunkle and directed by Rob Bailey.
