Netflix is sending Crew Girl back to the boathouse. The streamer has renewed the YA sports romance for Season 2, bringing Miku Martineau’s Teagan Tao, Kyle Clark’s Cam Dillinger and Sam Braun’s Josh Regis back for another chapter of rivalry, romance and competitive rowing at Easton Prep.
The renewal lands less than two weeks after the eight-episode first season debuted on September 10 and entered Netflix’s English TV Top 10. Created by showrunner and executive producer Vivian Lin, Crew Girl follows Teagan, a gifted teenage single sculler whose life is upended by her father’s financial scandal. After moving to Eagles Cove with her mother, Ella (Jessica Paré), Teagan enrolls at the elite Easton Prep and discovers it has no girls’ rowing team. Her route back to the water is an unexpected one: becoming coxswain for the school’s chaotic boys’ varsity crew.
That premise gives the series its particular engine. Teagan has to earn the team’s trust while trying to find a place in a world of wealth, old rivalries and expectations. At the same time, she is pulled between Josh, Easton’s confident golden boy, and the quieter, fiercely determined Cam. Season 1 also set up a major new possibility when Britney (Sage Linder) began a girls’ team, potentially forcing Teagan to weigh the team that became her home against the rowing career she first wanted.
What Could Happen in Crew Girl Season 2?
Netflix has not released story details beyond the returning world of the series, but the cast has already pointed to the opportunities waiting on the other side of the Season 1 finale. Martineau says there is more to explore with the characters, the romances and the rowing team, while the new girls’ crew creates a natural question for Teagan: does she stay in the coxswain seat, or get back behind an oar herself?
That is only one of the complications on the dock. Braun has floated the idea of seeing the group outside of rowing on a summer break, while Clark has said he would like to go deeper into the sport and try single sculling. Josh and Cam remain central to Teagan’s story, and the show’s opening season left enough emotional fallout and competition around Easton Prep to make a second season feel earned rather than merely inevitable.
