Comedy Central secured seven nominations in the 2016-2017 Primetime Emmy(R) Awards competition with four individual series receiving nominations: Broad City, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Drunk History and South Park. With its 21st season premiering in the fall, five-time Emmy(R)-winner and 19-time nominee South Park scored its 16th nomination for Outstanding Animated Program.
Emmy(R) Award-winning Drunk History set a franchise record with four Primetime Emmy nominations including its third consecutive nomination for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. Drunk History also earned consecutive nominations for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety, Nonfiction, Reality or Reality Competition and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, and a first for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series.
Rounding out Comedy Central’s nominations are The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’s Between the Scenes, nominated for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series, and Hack Into Broad City, the digital spinoff of hit series Broad City, with its second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.
