CBS has officially renewed Sheriff Country and Boston Blue for second seasons, extending both hit dramas into the 2026–2027 broadcast cycle. The early renewals come after strong multiplatform performance, competitive time-period wins, and powerful Friday night momentum across broadcast and streaming platforms.
Ratings Momentum Across Friday Nights
Since their shared series premieres on Friday, Oct. 17, CBS has won every Friday night in total viewers, making Sheriff Country and Boston Blue breakout audience drivers in two separate primetime blocks. Both dramas have quickly become consistent time-period leaders and major contributors to CBS’ overall Friday dominance.
Sheriff Country Renewal Highlights
CBS has ordered a second season of Sheriff Country, which averaged 7.6 million viewers in Nielsen live plus 7-day multiplatform ratings. The series delivered a +33% increase vs. the time period’s S.W.A.T. average, and has remained a steady Friday 8:00 PM performer.
The procedural has also benefited from multiplatform viewing and strong streaming engagement, making the series a compelling early renewal candidate for 2026–2027.
Boston Blue Renewal Highlights
CBS has also renewed Boston Blue for a second season, continuing the network’s expansion of the Blue Bloodsuniverse. The series averaged 8 million multiplatform viewers, with streaming alone up +87% from Blue Bloods last fall, signaling major audience migration to digital platforms.
At 10:00 PM Fridays, Boston Blue has been a consistent time-period winner for CBS and a significant late-night ratings anchor.
Both renewals are supported by Nielsen Multiplatform Analysis (Panel + Big Data P2+ Prime AA, L+7, 9/14/2025–11/9/2025) and Nielsen SCR 7-day Total Flight streaming metrics, indicating strong cross-platform reach.
