Boston Blue expands the legacy of Blue Bloods while giving fans a contemporary police drama centered on the complex Silver family. Wahlberg reprises his iconic role as Detective Danny Reagan in this Boston-based universe, working closely with Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green ). The Silver family includes high-ranking figures in law enforcement, city government, and community leadership: Boston District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), Police Superintendent Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson), rookie police officer Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner), and Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson).
