Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Sets January 2027 Premiere as Netflix Announces Final Season

Mizu’s bloody quest for revenge is heading to London — and Netflix has now revealed when the journey will continue and when it will ultimately end.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will premiere in January 2027, Netflix announced alongside a new teaser for the Emmy-winning animated series starring Maya Erskine as Mizu. The streamer also confirmed that Blue Eye Samurai has been renewed for a third and final season, which is planned for 2028.

That means fans can head into Season 2 knowing Mizu’s story won’t end there. Instead, creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green will have another season to bring her revenge saga to its conclusion.

The new teaser takes Mizu far beyond the borders of Edo-period Japan as her hunt for the remaining men connected to her past brings her to London.

When viewers last saw Mizu, she was sailing toward England with Abijah Fowler as her prisoner and a mission to find the two remaining white men who might be her father.

What Is Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 About?

Season 2 picks up with Mizu’s revenge mission continuing in London, where Netflix says she will encounter new friends, old enemies and her own demons.

The move to Europe creates an entirely different world for Mizu to navigate after spending the first season in 17th-century Japan. It also provides a new perspective on a character whose identity and treatment as an outsider have been fundamental to her story from the beginning.

Back in Japan, the story will continue without her. Akemi, voiced by Brenda Song, and Taigen, voiced by Darren Barnet, will navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new shogun, while Ringo, voiced by Masi Oka, searches for a new purpose.

Erskine, Song, Barnet and Oka are all expected to return for the new season.

Blue Eye Samurai Renewed for Season 3 — And It Will Be the Last

Netflix isn’t making fans wait to learn whether Mizu’s story will continue beyond Season 2.

Blue Eye Samurai has officially been renewed for Season 3, which will also serve as the series’ final season. Netflix says the story will reach its conclusion in 2028.

The early renewal gives Noizumi and Green the opportunity to build Season 2 toward a planned final chapter rather than leaving the future of the series uncertain.

According to Deadline, production on Season 2 has recently wrapped, while work on the third and final season is already underway.

Who Created Blue Eye Samurai?

Blue Eye Samurai was created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, who also serve as writers and executive producers. Erwin Stoff executive produces, with Jane Wu serving as supervising director and producer.

The adult animated series debuted in November 2023 and went on to win the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.

The story follows Mizu, a mixed-race master of the sword whose quest for vengeance began with her determination to kill the four white men who were illegally in Japan around the time of her birth — one of whom may be her father.

When Does Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Premiere?

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 premieres on Netflix in January 2027. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
