It should come as no surprise to fans of BATES MOTEL that Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) has killed yet again; after all, this is the story of how Norman becomes the man viewers know all too well from the Alfred Hitchcock film “Psycho.” But Season 4 has shown quite quickly that Norman is no longer hesitating to kill. In fact, in the Season 4 premiere, Norman kills Emma’s long-lost mother in a fit of misplaced rage while Norman is in his “Mother” state. What becomes more interesting after the second episode this season is determining whether Norman actually killed Emma’s mother after the body disappears.
With Norman so fully immersed in the blossoming “Mother” hallucinations, can he truly distinguish what is real and what is merely something he has merely envisioned with his mind? Was there a body in the basement freezer or was that just his mind playing tricks on him? As Norman’s grasp of reality slips more and more, Norma (Vera Farmiga) is anxious to finally get him the therapy and proper care he needs — but it is it too late? Even with Norman agreeing to check himself into Pine Bay and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) stepping up to the plate with the funds necessary for Norman’s treatment, this season explores whether there can ever be any hope of saving Norman now. Worse yet, who is going to save all of them from Norman?
In video interviews straight from the set with press, stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot and Nestor Carbonell candidly talk about the challenges facing their characters this season:

As a fun treat for fans, look for in the video interview with Vera Farmiga when Freddie Highmore calls Vera on her cellphone in the middle of the interview, and just watch Vera’s funny reaction. Vera and Freddie both tease a few new characters joining the show and how Norma and Norman will react to those new additions in their lives. Then Max and Nestor happily chat about their welcome directing experiences upcoming on BATES MOTEL, and Freddie talks about being given the wonderful opportunity to finally write an episode this season as well.
