Released in 2008, Australia stars Kidman as Lady Sarah Ashley, an English aristocrat who travels to the Australian Outback and becomes caught in a battle to protect the sprawling cattle station Faraway Downs. Jackman plays the Drover, a rugged cattleman who joins Sarah on a dangerous journey across northern Australia.
The story follows the pair as they attempt to drive thousands of cattle across the country while their relationship develops against the increasingly dangerous backdrop of World War II and the bombing of Darwin.

Jackman’s Drover is one of the central figures in the film and the romantic counterpart to Kidman’s Lady Sarah. The role arrived during Jackman’s original run as Wolverine in the X-Men movies and gave the Australian actor a very different kind of big-screen leading role.
Alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, the Australia cast includes David Wenham as Neil Fletcher, Bryan Brown as King Carney, Jack Thompson as Kipling Flynn, David Gulpilil as King George and Brandon Walters as Nullah.
