The 2026 Gotham Awards nominations have been announced, with All of a Sudden, Clarissa, La Gradiva, The Invite and Tender Loving Care leading the field with four nominations each. The Gotham Film & Media Institute’s 36th edition recognizes 42 feature films and 25 performances across 11 award categories, including the returning Gotham Audience Award.
The Best Feature category includes 11 nominees, spanning Olivia Wilde’s The Invite, Jesse Eisenberg’s The Debut, James Gray’s Paper Tiger and Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. They join Clarissa, Club Kid, Dreams in Nightmares, Josephine, Mouse, Primetime and Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.
The performance nominations bring together established stars and emerging talent. Sophie Okonedo is recognized for Clarissa, while Julianne Moore earns a lead nomination for The Debut and Andrew Scott is nominated for Elsinore. The supporting field includes Penélope Cruz for The Invite, Adam Driver for Paper Tiger, Andrew Garfield for Artificial and Channing Tatum for Josephine.
Behind the camera, the Best Director nominees are Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Sandra Wollner, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Jane Schoenbrun and Mike Leigh. The Breakthrough Director category recognizes six filmmakers, including Jordan Firstman for Club Kid and Marine Atlan for La Gradiva, whose nominations also extend to international feature, original screenplay and breakthrough performer.
Winners will be honored Monday, November 30, 2026, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The ceremony date is also confirmed in The Gotham’s official awards announcement.

Gotham Audience Award Returns After Six Years
The Gotham Audience Award returns after a six-year hiatus, with eight nominees including Backrooms, Michael, Project Hail Mary and You Can See Everything. Gotham members will select the winner, with the award presented to the winning film’s credited directors and producers.
The organization curated the nominees from films submitted for consideration, using opening-weekend per-theater averages alongside ratings and viewing activity on Letterboxd. The returning award adds a member-voted honor to the categories decided by industry juries.
Nominees in the juried categories were selected by committees of critics, journalists, festival programmers and film curators. Separate juries of film professionals will determine the recipients. The ceremony will also include The Gothams Tributes, which recognize outstanding achievement in film.
