Premiering on Discovery Science on July 24, and arriving at retail on August 30, this groundbreaking four-part series explores some of the most profound questions we can ask about ourselves and the celestial world in which we live. Wonders of the Universe offers views of giant supernova, gamma ray bursts and recently discovered galaxies, and sheds light on the furthest reaches of the universe, just moments after its creation. Hailed by The Los Angeles Times as, “the nerd who’s cooler than you”, Professor Cox is not only an esteemed man of science, he is a former musician and member of the group D:Ream whose hit song “Things Can Only Get Better” was chosen as Tony Blair’s theme song for his 1997 election campaign. He currently holds a chair in Particle Physics at the University of Manchester; but teaching is only the beginning of his scientific contributions. Professor Cox is the co-author of a book called Why Does E=mc2? which seeks to dispel common misconceptions about relativity. Cox also works on the ATLAS Experiment at CERN in Geneva with the world famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
