Ms. Newsome stars as Claire Washburn in ABC’s “Women’s Murder Club.” Most recently, she starred opposite Greg Kinnear in “Little Miss Sunshine” as Linda the Bereavement Liason, in Mike Binder’s “Reign Over Me,” with Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler and in the upcoming “Things We Lost in the Fire,” with Halle Berry and Benicio del Toro.
Newsome’s additional feature film credits include “Guess Who,” with Bernie Mac, “Straight Talk” and “Meet The Applegates.”
She has played recurring roles on such series as, “Heroes” opposite Ali Larter, “Killer Instinct,” as the wife of Chi McBride, “NYPD Blue,” with Dennis Franz, “The Guardian,” “The Lyon’s Den” and in a three episode arc as the ill-fated Helen Chanley on CBS’ “City Of Angels,” starring Blair Underwood. Her first role in television was as a series regular on NBC’s “Conrad Bloom.” Since then she has guest starred on numerous television series including “Criminal Minds,” “Night Stalker,” “Yes, Dear,” “Friends,” “CSI,” “Strong Medicine,” “Judging Amy,” “Any Day Now,” “ER,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Ally McBeal” and “Chicago Hope.”
Newsome is an award-winning actress and singer who appeared on Broadway as Carrie in Lincoln Center’s Tony Award winning revival of “Carousel.” She has also won numerous awards for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.
