Seat42f Says: All 18 episodes are included here from the strike shortened second season of Ugly Betty. While fans of the series will enjoy adding this DVD to their collection it still plays like a watered down version of everything that made season 1 such juicy fun. Although I like the characters at Mode better then Betty’s family I often found myself enjoying the stories away from Mode better than the work place zaniness. The cast does shine throughout and guest appearances from Gene Simmons among others keep the episodes and the season interesting. For this viewer it’s more fun to see Betty as Betty and not evolving into a “better” Betty. Much like Gene Simmons and his band Kiss as Betty evolves it’s like watching Kiss without the makeup. The bonus features, although limited, do have some fun with Wilhelmina Slater and a Love To Hate Her feature.

Ugly Betty: The Complete Second Season
Take another cheeky peek at the diva-licious drama of high fashion with Ugly Betty: The Complete Second Season, coming to DVD September 9, 2008. An entire season’s worth of fashionista rivalries and romance, confidences and betrayals, and grudges and alliances come in a to-die-for five-disc set decked out with 18 episodes of one of the most stylin’ shows on television. Ugly Betty: The Complete Second Season also comes tastefully accessorized with all the year’s must-have bonus features.
Sunny, sweet-tempered and terminally style challenged, Betty navigates the ego-infested, high fashion halls of Mode magazine for a second season that is even brighter and bolder than the first. Star America Ferrera’s (Real Women Have Curves) portrayal of the title role earned her a 2007 Emmy® Award and a 2007 Golden Globe® Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. The show’s acclaimed ensemble cast also includes Eric Mabius (“The L Word,” Resident Evil), Tony Plana, Ana Ortiz (“Boston Legal”), Ashley Jensen (“Extras”), Becki Newton (“American Dreams), Mark Indelicato, Michael Urie, Judith Light, Christopher Gorham (“Popular,” “Jake 2.0”), Rebecca Romijn (X- Men Trilogy), and Vanessa Williams (“Soul Food”). “Ugly Betty” is produced by ABC Studios.
Bonus Features
• On Set with the Besties – Self-proclaimed “besties” (as in “best buds”) Marc and Amanda
(Michael Urie and Becki Newton) lead fans on a tour through the fabulous Mode sets – complete
with sweetly snide commentary. Go inside The Closet, stroll down The Tube, and visit the
cafeteria (hopefully it’ll be Taco Tuesday!). But wait – what are they doing in Betty’s house?!
-more-
• Wilhelmina Slater: Love To Hate Her – Conniving, backstabbing, two-faced – Wilhelmina
(Vanessa Williams ) is the fashion world’s most irresistible villainess! Born to play Mode’s divinely
evil creative director, Williams talks about the perks and perils of being Willie, and the cast and
guest stars weigh in on her wicked ways.
• BETTY BLOOPS – Everybody’s favorite feature—only this time, the actors explain exactly what
went wrong (it wasn’t their fault!) before clips of hilariously messed-up moments!
• Deleted Scenes
