FX’s Golden Globe® award winning series Damages already boasts one of the finest acting ensembles anywhere on television, and that ensemble has become even stronger as former Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant has joined the cast for a season-long arc in the series second season.
The Olyphant signing comes on the heels of the recent announcement that Academy Award® winning actor William Hurt joined the Damages cast for season two, alongside Golden Globe award winner Glenn Close; Golden Globe nominee Rose Byrne; and Tate Donovan.
Olyphant’s character will become tangled in the life of Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) as she deals with both her recent personal loss and the escalating conflict with her boss Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) when the firm takes a new client (William Hurt).
"We've been huge fans of Tim's all the way back to his New York theater days. His magnetic combination of humor, charm and menace make him a perfect fit for our show. And we're thrilled to get the chance to write for him," stated the co-creators and executive producing team of Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman.
Production of the 13-episode second season began yesterday in New York and the second season is scheduled to debut in early 2009. Damages is produced by Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and FX Productions.
Olyphant garnered critical notice for his powerful portrayal of the tough, honorable, natural born-leader ‘Seth Bullock’ in HBO’s groundbreaking series, Deadwood. Olyphant has amassed an impressive film résumé that includes Hitman, Live Free or Die Hard, The Girl Next Door, Gone in 60 Seconds, Go and many others. Olyphant next stars in the feature film A Perfect Getaway, produced by Relativity for MGM co-starring Milla Jovovich and Steve Zahn, and the indie film High Life, which was directed by Gary Yates and is based on the award winning play.
